WEFT Magazine is published four times a year and four times a year we send out a call for proposals along with our theme and specific articles/projects we’re looking for. If you’d like to get those four emails, please let us know here. We promise we’ll never sell, give away, or use your info for evil!
We are dedicated to producing the best magazine possible, to that end, we work quite far in advance and try to give writers and designers 6 months – 9 months to complete their articles and projects for WEFT.
We do our very best to pay our writers and designers fairly, we have long lead times (6-9 months), we only borrow the rights to your work for 12 months (after that you’re free to do whatever you like with your article/pattern/etc and we no longer have rights to it beyond the original publication).

Moodboards
Texture is the theme of our Spring 2028 issue, and we want to know everything about how we can use and design with it.
Handweavers can create texture using a variety of different tools and methods. What are the different types of yarns and fibers, and what are the best methods to use them effectively to create texture? Have you used yarns with unusual properties, like elastic, dissolving, over-twisted, or monofilament yarns?
What are your favorite texture-making structures, like crepe or waffle, and how do they work? What about all the different methods we can use to create three-dimensional cloth such as differential shrinkage, furrows and pleats, deflected doubleweave, or bumps? Can you challenge what you know about texture by experimenting with combinations of pattern, color, structure, and yarns?
Of course, we are also looking for projects designed to show off the different types of textured weavers can create – and be touchy and feely about!
Proposals for articles and projects are due by October 1st, 2026.
We’ll let you know in November 2026.
Final articles, samples and projects are due June 1, 2027.
